  • Amazon (AMZN): Amazon.com announced that Verizon Communications selected the company’s Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) platform as its preferred public cloud provider. Separately, Bloomberg reported that Amazon is testing a new display advertisement offering that threatens multibillion-dollar revenue streams at Google and Criteo SA. According to Bloomberg, Amazon’s display ad tool would enable merchants that sell products on the company’s online marketplace to purchase ad spots that would follow shoppers around the web to lure them back to Amazon to buy desired products.
  • Tesla (TSLA): Reuters reported that Tesla Inc. will halt production at its California factory for the third time this year, from May 26-31, to work on repairs to its assembly line for the company’s new Model 3 sedan.
  • Tyson (TSN): Tyson Foods, Inc. announced that it agreed to buy the poultry rendering and blending assets of American Proteins, Inc. for approximately $850 million. Tyson stated that it expects the acquisition to enable it to recycle more animal products for feed, pet food and aquaculture products, and to expand its presence in the growing animal feed ingredient business.
